Tikkun Olam

This morning while driving to work, I became a bit irate. I passed through a neighborhood, known to be heavily populated with observant Jews and noticed that it was trash day. In and amongst the cans were several items which may have been no longer needed in THEIR homes, but with a little elbow grease, could have been turned into something useable for another family- a stroller, a dresser, milk crate. Tikkun Olam means to repair the world... and an easy way to do that is to REUSE, RECYLE and REPURPOSE. Come on, folks, get off your collective tuchus and go green with the rest of us.

But thank G'd there are Jews like Harriet Estel Berman who is the Queen Esther of Repurposing. Above is Harriet's Tzedakah envelope. I don't know about you, but I certainly recognize that tin which serves as a base for her work.
